Desmoid tumours are rare benign lesions that arise in the connective tissues of the body. The tumours are not classified as malignant because they do not spread to other parts of the body, but some can be very aggressive, invading and growing locally causing pain and debilitation. Surgery is the standard of care, but these tumours recur and can be treated with radiotherapy or chemotherapy, however, these are not optimal treatment option for all patients.
Local treatment into a desmoid lesion with LTX-315 has demonstrated long term benefit by diminishing the size of the lesion and enabling local control with a substantial reduction and even alleviation of pain enabling return to normal activities of daily living.
A case history confirming this has been published and can be found here.
